Thursday April 7th 2011

I am tarred folks, tarred...being a "yes" mom can really wear you out! While at first glance it seems as if we did nothing all day, I realize that we never stopped! Since we are a foster family, every day (usually mornings) has something baby related to it. Monday is little boys visit, Tuesday is little boys parenting class, Wednesday is Beans visit, Thursday is Beans parenting class and Friday is in home therapy for all three. Our mornings start out early, and are usually occupied till noon with these activities, so this is usually the times that we all kind of do our own thing. TV, computers, playmobil play, we are just off in our own spaces. After lunch we usually regroup, make a few loose plans while settling down the babies, and then start to spend time together doing activities and such. After nap time we really all come together for serious play and exploring, together, with neighbors and friends, eating dinner as we go so as not to interrupt our discoveries. In the evening, we come together as a family with a game, tv show, books and bedtime..talkking about our days adventures and making plans for the morrow. Today started early with packing a three babies up for parenting, waiting a long boring hour in a parking lot, and then excitedly driving home so the real day could begin. My sister, whom I call "sister", was at home with my kids and her granddaughter (we are 12 years apart) and the fun had already begun without me! I came home to a game of Princess with everyone dressed up in fancy dresses and make up. We meandered out to the screened in porch where we began a morning of water play and sand play and water fights and hose wars, serious drenching going on here! After drying off we enjoyed a picinic in the sun and then had to say good bye to our visitors. Babies were tired as they all slept for three hours! Blissful! After our alone time, we slowly regrouped as neighbor children invaded the house and we were back outside at it all over again. I love that my children can, and will, play outside for hours...that they have all the time in the world to wonder and explore. We made cookies and put together an outside dinner-neighbor children joining us. They scrubbed my beloveds grill from top to bottom with a sponge, who was actually Spongebob (?) and then went to saturate a patch of dirt with the hose so they could dig and dig for the next hour. Filthy, filthy, filthy!!! Into the tub I say, into the tub! Clean bodies reconvene...snack on cereal...what's that noise? The other neighbors are out? Please, please ?they plead, of course say I.. and off they run, clean and in pajamas to make a cops and robbers movie in the neighbors driveway. Finally, they come back home, finally...Good Luck Charlie and Zoo Tycoon. I have sad it before and I'll say it again, Tis a truly blessed life I lead.
